We would rather set the expectation now than have you find out on a Tuesday morning. These are small communities, the professionals who cover them live elsewhere, and that shapes everything about how you should plan.
These are villages, not towns
Populations run from a few hundred to a few thousand, and there is no local dental workforce to speak of. Anyone promising you otherwise is selling you something.
Your pool is the next municipality over
Anmore and Belcarra draw on the Tri-Cities. Lions Bay and Bowen Island draw on the North Shore. That is the practical answer to who can cover you.
Notice is not optional here
A professional coming to Belcarra or catching a ferry to Bowen Island is making a deliberate trip. Given time they will plan it. Asked on the morning, they will not.
Permanent usually beats temp
For an ongoing gap, someone who already lives in the community is worth more than any rota. We will say so rather than book you a run of shifts that keeps falling over.
Getting there
One road in, or one ferry
What these four have in common is a single route. Anmore and Belcarra are reached through Port Moody, Lions Bay from the Sea to Sky, and Bowen Island by sailing from Horseshoe Bay. There is no alternative approach to any of them.
Since matching runs on the trip a professional would genuinely make, that single route is the whole picture. Bowen Island in particular is a real commitment for anyone not already living on the island, and a shift there should be posted with the sailing in mind.

None of which means we will not help. It means we will tell you what to expect, and often suggest a permanent local hire instead of a rota.

Do you cover Anmore, Belcarra, Bowen Island and Lions Bay?
Yes, in the sense that you can post a shift and it will reach professionals in range. What we will not do is pretend these are ordinary markets. Between them these four municipalities have a few thousand residents and very little dental activity of their own, so a shift here is reaching people who live somewhere else and would be making a deliberate trip. We would rather tell you that before you post than after.
Where does my nearest pool actually live?
For Anmore and Belcarra it is the Tri-Cities, particularly Port Moody and Coquitlam, which are a few minutes down the road. For Lions Bay and Bowen Island it is the North Shore, mainly West and North Vancouver. In every case the professionals covering you are people whose home base is the neighbouring municipality.
How should I post a shift in one of these communities?
Give as much notice as you possibly can, name the community rather than the region, and be specific about the trip. For Bowen Island, say which sailing works and whether parking at Horseshoe Bay is sorted. Small details remove the reasons someone would hesitate over an unfamiliar and slightly awkward journey.
Is a permanent hire a better idea here?
Often, yes. If you have an ongoing gap rather than an occasional one, a professional who already lives in the community is worth far more than a rota of people travelling in, and that is more true here than anywhere else in the metro. We do permanent placement as well as temp, and a placement fee applies on conversion, quoted up front.
I live on Bowen Island or in Lions Bay. Is it worth signing up?
Yes, and your location is unusually valuable. Practices on the North Shore compete for people who can reach them without a long trip, and if you are willing to travel to West or North Vancouver you will find steady work. If you would rather stay very local, be aware that the volume in your own community will be limited.
Who employs the professional on a placement here?
The same as anywhere. On temp and locum bookings the professional is our employee, so we confirm registration in good standing with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals, carry the insurance and run payroll, and you get one invoice at an all-in hourly rate. On a permanent hire your practice is the employer and runs its own checks.
