Same-day coverage

Somebody just called in sick

If that is why you are here, post the shift now and read the rest of this afterwards. Everything below still applies at nine o’clock. The pool of people who can help you does not.

Three things, and then go and get ready for your day

1

Post it before you do anything else

Even if you are not sure yet whether you need it. A posted shift can be cancelled, and the ten minutes you spend deciding are ten minutes it is not in front of anybody.

2

Say what the day actually is

Role, hours, and your practice management software. The software line is the difference between somebody being useful at nine and asking where the recall list lives.

3

Then get on with your own morning

You do not need to sit on it. You will be told when somebody claims it, and you will know in good time if nobody has.

The same eighty minutes, two ways

Switch between them. The difference is not really whether the column gets filled, it is what o’clock it is when you find out where you stand.

A Tuesday, from 6:40

Somebody has just called in sick

6:40

Until the first patient

None of this is unusual. It is simply what the morning does to whoever is holding it.

What actually decides how a callout morning goes

Whether a shift fills comes down to who happens to be free in your market that morning. Several things move those odds in your favour, and most of them are within your control.

    01

Posting earlier always widens the pool

The people most likely to take a shift at short notice are the ones who have not already committed their day to something else, and by half past seven a lot of them have. Nothing about this is a guarantee, and every minute genuinely helps.

    02

People who have worked here before come first

Openings are pushed to professionals nearby with priority to the ones your practice has already booked. Somebody who knows your operatory and your software is worth more on a bad morning than somebody who does not.

    03

Knowing early is worth something on its own

If nobody claims it, you would far rather find that out at seven with the schedule still movable than at ten to eight with patients already arriving. Every option you have shrinks as the morning goes on.

What you are not doing at 7am

Nobody is checking a licence in the corridor

A same-day placement is a temporary placement, which means the professional is our employee for the shift. All of the administrative work that would otherwise be sitting on your morning has already happened.

    • Registration and insurance verified before anybody is scheduled
    • We are the employer for the shift, not you
    • Payroll, source deductions and remittances sit with us
    • The rate is the set rate for your city, decided before you post

Set the account up before you need it

The worst time to be creating an account and working out how posting works is twenty to seven on the morning it matters. It takes a few minutes on a quiet afternoon.
