Who is my employer when I work a shift?
Whether you are an employee or a contractor, and what lands on your tax return.
Updated Aug 2026
Are you an office?Read this for officesWe are. When you work a shift through WORKFORCE you are our employee, on T4 in Canada and W2 in the United States. You are not a contractor engaged by the office for the day.
What that means for you
- Source deductions come off your pay rather than being yours to set aside
- One tax slip at year end, however many offices you worked
- Insurance on the placement is carried by us, not by you
- You are not invoicing practices or chasing them for payment
Why it is set up this way
Misclassifying dental professionals as contractors creates real problems for both sides, and the person who usually carries the consequences is the one who did the work. Employing you directly avoids it.
