Whitby, Ontario
Dental staffing in Whitby
Book temp dental hygienists, dental assistants and front office staff across Whitby and Brooklin. The one place in Durham you can reach from York Region without the 401.
Why this town is different
Durham has a back door, and it opens here
Every other municipality in this region is reached along the 401 through Scarborough. Whitby is the exception: the 412 drops from the 407 straight into it, so somebody in Markham or Richmond Hill can come across the top of the region and arrive without touching the lakeshore.
Which is why the shorter trip on a map is often the longer one in practice, and why a Whitby posting that names the route reaches people no other Durham posting does.
Two ways in, and one of them is quiet
Weekday morning34 km apart, either way
Across the top on the 407, then straight down the 412. No Scarborough, no lakeshore, and a trip most professionals in York Region have never considered making.
Approximate weekday morning times, not measurements. We match on the trip a professional has told us they will genuinely make, which is why the direction matters as much as the distance.

For Whitby practices
Tell people the way in
Name the route, not just the town
The 407 to the 412 is the whole advantage. Somebody in Markham reads Whitby and pictures the 401; tell them what the trip actually is.
Advertise north as well as along the lake
You are the one Durham practice with a realistic York Region catchment. Nobody there is searching for you unless you say so.
Brooklin or the lakeshore, say which
They are fifteen minutes and a different feel apart, and a professional weighing the drive wants to know before the morning.
Credentials are ours on temp
CDHO registration for hygienists, RCDSO for locum dentists, and the NDAEB certificate plus HARP where an assistant takes radiographs. One invoice at an all-in hourly rate.
For Whitby professionals
Check the route before you rule it out
Durham without the 401
If you live in Markham or Richmond Hill, the 407 and the 412 make Whitby a reasonable trip. Most people in York never check.
Two cities for the price of one radius
Whitby and Oshawa run together. A radius set here covers a great deal more work than the municipality does.
Reachable by train near the lake
All-day service both directions. If you are working by transit, the southern practices are genuinely open to you.
One tax form, however many practices
Every shift runs through WORKFORCE, so a year across Whitby, Oshawa and Markham lands on a single T4.
Whitby staffing questions
What is different about staffing in Whitby?
The way people can get here. Everywhere else in Durham is reached along the 401 through Scarborough, which is the slowest road in the province at the hours a practice actually needs covering. Whitby has Highway 412 joining the 401 to the 407, so somebody in Markham or Richmond Hill can come across the top of the region and down, and arrive without touching the lakeshore at all.
Does that really widen the pool?
It does, and almost nobody uses it. A professional in York Region searching for work does not think of Durham, because Durham means the 401 to most people. Naming the 407 and the 412 in a posting reaches somebody for whom the trip is genuinely reasonable and who would otherwise never have looked east.
Is Brooklin part of the same market?
Related but not identical. Brooklin sits north of the rest of the town and is its own community rather than a suburb of it, so the trip from south Whitby is longer than a single municipality name suggests. If your practice is up there, say Brooklin. If it is near the lake, say that instead, because the two draw slightly different people.
Can somebody reach Whitby by train?
Yes, along the all-day lakeshore service, and the station is south of the 401 rather than in the town centre. That makes it genuinely useful for a practice near the water and less so for one up toward Brooklin. Say which you are, and if there is a bus leg say how long it takes.
How does Whitby compare with Oshawa for filling shifts?
The two run into each other and share a great deal of their pool, so a professional in one works in the other without thinking about it. What Whitby has that Oshawa does not is the northern route, and what Oshawa has that Whitby does not is a workforce grown by its own campuses and hospital. In practice most groups with a practice in each treat them as one market with two front doors.
Who employs the temp professional in my Whitby practice?
We do, on temp and locum bookings. For hygienists we confirm registration in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, and for locum dentists with the RCDSO. Dental assisting is not a regulated profession in Ontario, so there we confirm the NDAEB certificate for Level II duties and HARP certification where the role involves radiographs. On a permanent hire your practice is the employer and runs its own checks.
Whichever side of the chair you are on
Temporary staffing, permanent placement and dentist locum cover throughout Whitby, for the practices that need people and the professionals who want the work.
For dental offices
Cover the chair, or fill the role
Put the 407 and the 412 in your posting. You are the one practice in Durham for which a professional in Markham is a reasonable ask, and none of them know it yet.
For dental professionals
Pick up the work
If you are in York Region and you wrote Durham off because of the 401, check the route across the top. Whitby is closer than it looks from where you are sitting.
